Fukuoka Airport (FUK) is 149km from Nagasaki

JR trains connect Nagasaki to major cities in Japan

Nagasaki is accessible by road.
The venue has 300 parking spaces available.

 

GETTING TO THE VENUE

By Train

Dejima Messe Nagasaki (the venue) is connected to Nagasaki Train Station and can be accessed via the sky bridge (which will take you straight to registration) or by crossing the road.

By Tram 

Nagasaki’s tram system is affordable and reliable; tram stop details and directions are available in the event app and at the registration desk.

Walking

Nagasaki is very safe and walkable.

By Car 

The venue is accessible by road and has parking available.

The program is available to view on the app. A PDF version of the full program will be made available via the HSR Website before the Symposium.
Please note the final program may change slightly and any changes will be reflected in the app.

ARRIVING AT HSR2024

Collecting your badge from Registration
Upon arriving at HSR2024 you must collect your badge, as only badged guests will be allowed access to the venue.

  • To simplify your check-in process, you will need to show a copy of your QR code. Instructions for downloading your unique QR code are detailed below. Please have it ready on your mobile device or as a printed document upon arrival.
  • During check-in you will collect your badge. Please wear it for the duration of your attendance at the Symposium. It will not be possible to re-print badges if they are lost or damaged

We strongly advise you collect your badge on Sunday 17th November if possible.

 

GETTING YOUR QR CODE

Your unique QR code can be found in your registration page, by following the instructions
below.

Cloakroom and venue opening times: The cloakroom and venue will be open daily from 07:30 am and will close 30 minutes after the end of the last session each day.

 

LUNCH AND REFRESHMENTS

Catering will be provided during the main symposium, (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), and will be served in the Exhibition Hall. Break times during these days are as follows:

  • Morning break (tea, coffee, light refreshments): 11:10 – 11:40
  • Lunch break: 13:10 – 14:10
  • Afternoon break (tea, coffee, light refreshments): 15:10 – 15:40

Timings may be subject to change so please do check the app for the most up -to-date information.

 

WELCOME RECEPTION

Tuesday 19th November, 18:00 – close

The Local Organizing Committee has created a special evening for all guests of the Symposium. Taking place in the Exhibition Hall immediately after the Opening Ceremony and Plenary 1, guests are invited to join for local street food, drinks and networking.

 

PRESENTATION, SPEAKERS AND POSTER INFORMATION 

For information on your presentations and poster sessions, please refer to your familiarization emails sent last week.

DISTRIBUTING MATERIALS AT THE SYMPOSIUM 

For anyone who would like to share materials on their latest work, please do so using the General Display Table in the Main Hall. The space will be unmanned.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS INFORMATION 

All details of hotel bookings for Scholarship recipients will be sent out by JTB and uploaded to the ‘My Page’ section of the registration platform on Monday (11 November).
Further details regarding your time at HSR2024 will also be shared by email w/c 11 November to all Scholarship recipients.

 

LOCAL INFORMATION AND HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Currency: Japanese Yen (JPY). ATMs are widely available.
  • Weather: Expect mild temperatures in Nagasaki during the Symposium period. We suggest bringing layers however, as temperatures may fluctuate.
  • Time zone: Japan Standard Time (UTC+9).
  • Emergency contact information: Local Emergency Number 119 (for fire and medical), 110 (for police).
